You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials

Compliance

Last updated: March 2026

Settlement Account Compliance

All settlement funds processed through LienLink are held in a dedicated bank settlement account. Funds are held by a licensed financial institution and are never commingled with operating funds.

Funds are never commingled with operating funds. Each case is tracked as a separate virtual sub-account with complete transaction logs available to LienLink administrators.

Wire Fraud Prevention

LienLink takes wire fraud prevention seriously. Our platform includes the following safeguards:

  • Verbal verification required — all wire instructions must be verbally confirmed before funds are sent
  • Bank account verification — independently verified bank accounts prior to any disbursement
  • Administrator authorization — all disbursements require explicit approval from a LienLink administrator
  • Audit trail — every action on the platform is logged with timestamp and user attribution
  • Secure wire instruction delivery — wire instructions are delivered through the secure platform, never over unencrypted email

Data Security

LienLink uses industry-standard security practices:

  • Encryption in transit — all data transmitted over TLS 1.2+
  • Encryption at rest — all stored data encrypted using AES-256
  • Role-based access — each party sees only the information relevant to their role
  • Supabase infrastructure — SOC 2 Type II compliant hosting
  • Private document storage — all uploaded files stored in private buckets with signed URLs

Attorney Involvement

LienLink coordinates the settlement process but does not provide legal advice or legal services. Every LienLink case is assigned a managing administrator who is responsible for reviewing and verifying all lien release documents before any funds are disbursed.

LienLink LLC provides document administration and coordination services only. LienLink reviews documents for completeness and consistency with settlement terms — this is an administrative function and does not constitute legal advice or the practice of law. Parties requiring legal advice should engage their own counsel.

Record Retention

All case records, documents, transaction logs, and communications are retained for a minimum of 7 years following case closure, consistent with best practices for legal and financial record keeping.

Developer Handoff Notes
Features to build when connecting to a real backend — remove this card before launch
PRIORITY AI Document Extraction — Server-Side
Currently uses a manual copy/paste workaround via Claude.ai chat. In production, replace with a /api/extract-documents endpoint that accepts multipart file uploads, calls the Anthropic API server-side with your key, and returns structured JSON. The applyExtractedData(parsed) function in the frontend is already built and ready to receive the response — just replace callExtractionAPI() with a fetch to your endpoint. Supports: DOCX (via mammoth), PDF, PNG, JPG.
BACKEND Real Authentication & Party Logins
Replace the demo portal switcher with real auth. Each party (attorney, payor, payee, owner) gets a unique login link emailed when the case is created. Use JWT tokens or a service like Auth0/Clerk. The portal tab views (attorney, payor, payee, owner, admin) map directly to user roles — the UI is already role-separated.
BACKEND Database — Replace localStorage
All case data currently lives in localStorage via saveUserCases() and loadUserCases(). Replace these two functions with API calls to your database (Postgres recommended). The caseData object structure is well-defined and maps cleanly to database tables: cases, parties, documents, w9_status, parallel_status.
INTEGRATION Email Notifications
Trigger emails at key workflow steps: case opened (all parties), W-9 requested, documents ready for attorney review, funding instructions sent to payor, wire details requested from payees, all parallel tasks complete (admin alert), disbursement sent. Use SendGrid or Postmark. Each showToast() call in the prototype marks a natural email trigger point.
INTEGRATION Settlement Account & Banking
Wire instructions and disbursement are currently simulated. Connect to a banking partner (Stripe Treasury, Synapse, or a direct bank API) for real settlement sub-account creation per case, ACH/wire intake, and outbound disbursement. The admin verification checklist and "Approve & Release Funds" button are the integration points.
STORAGE Document Storage
Documents are currently held as base64 blobs in memory and lost on refresh. Replace with S3 (or equivalent) uploads. The handleFileSelect() and docsMeta array are the integration points. Store S3 URLs in the database and generate pre-signed URLs for secure attorney/party access.

Admins have full access to all cases, party management, and platform settings.
